Sarah Morrison Yates MS, LCMHC
My resume contains several theories and career experiences.
I taught middle school and high school locally in Chittenden County. As a program therapist in a maximum security prison, I managed a caseload of inmates and devised their ITPs. This was also my role for a period in Florida. I devised an art therapy program in Vermont, and facilitated and co facilitated groups that specialized in family reunification, victim empathy, and cognitive restructuring.
An art gallery in New Hampshire that showed and sold my art and that of other local artists was my occupation pre Covid.
In the years since Covid, I returned to Chittenden County with a desire to participate in the need for counselors and therapeutic connections. I have been seeing clients in Burlington for the past 3 1/2 years.
I rely on the precepts of CBT for much of my work, and TA, with an emphasis on our core belief system and the cognitive distortions that may be found therein. A plan may contain reviewing how these distortions may be affecting our emotions and behaviors.
I believe that many of the issues that bring folks to therapy might be uncovered and resolved In a short time. I am invested in meeting speed bumps with brief therapy.
